Dr. Jerome E. McNeil, Jr.
Dr. Jerome McNeil, Jr. is the Senior Pastor of Christian Chapel CME "Temple of Faith" Church, Dallas, Texas, a church with over 6000 members and 80 ministries. As pastor of this historical church, Dr. McNeil has a focus upon Spiritual empowerment and equipping others for ministry.
He and his wife of 39 years, Billye Caldwell McNeil, is the Director of Counseling at Christian Chapel CME Church, and together they frequently conduct Marriage Enrichment and Relationship Workshops throughout the country.
Dr. McNeil is one of the founding members of the African American Pastors Coalition, Dallas; Executive Board Member of The Texas Alliance for Good Government (T.A.G.G.); former columnist for the Christian Index; Chairman of the Commission on Ministerial Examination of the Dallas-Ft. Worth Annual Conference; Denominational Prayer Coordinator for the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church; Board member for the Phillips School of Theology of the Interdenominational Theological Center (I.T.C.) in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. McNeil serves on the National Board of One Church One School based out of Chicago, Illinois and is the Founder and Ex-Officio Officer of the Board of the Jordan Community Development Corporation of Dallas, Texas. He is President of Visions of Joy Ministries Incorporation, a leadership Development Ministry for Churches and Pastors.
Dr. McNeil has served on the Adjunct Faculty of the School of Social Work, University of Houston and University of Texas at Arlington and as Doctoral candidate Advisor, United Theological Seminary. He served as Dallas Coordinator and Instructor for the I.T.C. extension classes for 4 years. Additionally, Dr. McNeil has served as Teaching Pastor for Interns for the Brite Divinity School, Texas Christian University Ft. Worth, Texas and Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University, Dallas. Academic preparation includes North Texas State University, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey; University of Houston (M.S.W), Institute of Religion Houston Medical Center; Union Theological Seminary, Richmond, Virginia; Columbia Pacific University and University of Texas at Galveston Medical Branch. He holds a PhD in Counseling Psychology.
Dr. McNeil is a former television and radio talk show host in Houston and Dallas and a pioneer in juvenile justice and family issues in Texas by serving as a lobbyist in juvenile issues for the Texas Coalition for Juvenile Justice. He was appointed by the late Governor Ann Richards to serve on the Texas Marriage and Family Licensing Board for a 3 year term. Hired as the highest ranking African American in Dallas County in 1981 he was the Assistant Director for the Dallas County Juvenile Department. In 1983 he became the first African American Family Court Investigator and Counselor for Dallas County and Expert Witness to the Family Courts.
Dr. McNeil was a delegate to the World Methodist Conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and has preached in the Bahamas and Rome, Italy with the World Methodist Evangelism Symposium.
As Pastor of one of the denomination's fastest growing churches, Dr. McNeil's cutting edge ministry has remained relevant and focused upon developing disciples. As a widely traveled Evangelist, Pastor, Counselor, Teacher, and Author, he continues the emphasis of a Biblical response to the current issues facing our families and communities in his teaching and preaching ministries.
Dr. McNeil is the father of two daughters, one son-in-law, and two granddaughters.
